BMS/Controls Commissioning Manager

Step into a senior leadership role at the forefront of mission-critical infrastructure delivery. You will be leading the commissioning strategy and execution of sophisticated Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls packages across large-scale, fast-paced environments, ensuring seamless integration from design through to handover. This role suits someone who thrives in high-pressure delivery environments and understands the critical importance of uptime, resilience, and detail in mission-critical facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end commissioning of BMS and controls systems across multiple data centre projects Develop, implement, and manage detailed commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures Coordinate with MEP contractors, design consultants, and client teams to ensure smooth integration of all building systems Oversee functional testing, integrated systems testing (IST), and performance verification activities Ensure all systems are commissioned in line with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements Manage and resolve technical issues during commissioning phases, ensuring minimal impact on programme delivery Lead site-based commissioning teams, including engineers and subcontractors Support final handover and client witness testing, ensuring successful project completion and sign-off

Desired Experience

Proven experience in BMS / controls commissioning within large-scale commercial or mission-critical environments (ideally data centres) Strong understanding of building automation systems such as HVAC controls, BMS architecture, and integration protocols (e.g. BACnet, Modbus) Background working with major MEP contractors or specialist commissioning consultancies Strong leadership experience managing site-based engineering teams and subcontractors Strong problem-solving ability in high-pressure, live project environments Relevant electrical, mechanical, or building services engineering qualification (or equivalent experience) Commissioning certifications (e.g. CxA, BESA, or equivalent) advantageous
